1 Thessalonians 1:2

This passage of Scripture has so much good information in it for us to understand our life and being as a Christian – a child of God, that I want to break it down some more so that we do not miss any of this good example for our lives in Christ.

1 Thessalonians 1:2 (NKJV) states, “2We give thanks to God always for you all, making mention of you in our prayers,” and is an example of how we all, as Christians, should be in our prayer lives. To give thanks in our prayers to God for all our Christian brothers and sisters should be a daily prayer-blessing that we give to each other. Regardless of our individual level of relationship we have with God, we all need help through prayer, and we all need to be aware that it is each of us that gives support for one another through our prayers for one another; from the newest Christian who may have given their life to God today, to the seasoned veteran of a Christian who has been striving to live for Jesus for many years, we all need support through our prayers for one another.

This is a command and example to pray for one another always.

The Apostle Paul teaches us in Romans 12:12 to continue steadfast in prayer, and in Ephesians 6:18 to be “praying always with all prayer and supplication in the spirit,”. And Jesus taught us how to pray in Matthew 6:9-13, “In this manner, therefore pray:

Our Father in heaven,

Hollowed be Your name.

Your kingdom come.

Your will be done

On earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our debts,

As we forgive our debtors.

And do not lead us into temptation,

But deliver us from the evil one.

For Yours is the kingdom and the

power and the glory forever. Amen.”

Sometimes our best prayer is a simple. . . “Jesus, I need Your help.”

Dear LORD,

Our connection to You from our physical lives to Your Spiritual Being is through prayer. Please help us to realize and understand just how important it is to spend time with You in prayer every day; for our own needs, for the support of our brothers and sisters in Christ, and for the lost to be found. In Jesus name I pray, amen.
