1 Corinthians 4:6-7

The Apostle Paul has been teaching the church at Corinth to be stewards and servants of Christ Jesus.  He is trying to lead them to a harmonious relationship not only amongst themselves, but with God.  With this attitude toward one another and to Christ Jesus, they should not be judgmental of one another.  No one is better than another but all equal in Christ Jesus; everyone should be working together as a team instead of trying to prove their own salvation better than someone else.  Paul declares in Romans 10:12, (NKJV), “For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord over all is rich to all who call upon Him.”  Paul teaches that everything that one has received is from God.  The Bible teaches in John 3:27, “A man can receive nothing unless it has been given to him from heaven.”

This is a command to not be prideful or boastful as all things are given by God and we should be thankful for everything that God gives us.

Man has always had issues with pride.  But as we come to know Jesus as our Savior and as we begin to realize and understand the teachings of the Bible in how we should conduct ourselves as Christians, we should implement these teachings in our lives.  We should not hold it over someone’s head that we may have God-given abilities that they do not.  But that we would be thankful for the gifts that God gives us and use them to glorify Him – in Christ.

Dear LORD,

It is in our nature to strive to be the best that we can be.  But please help us to realize and understand that this should not come at the expense of others but that we would utilize the gifts that You have given us to work together to bring glory to You.  In Jesus name I pray, amen.
