1 Corinthians 16:15-18

In the early church, it was common that the meeting would be at the house of one of the leaders of the church.  In 1 Corinthians 16:15-18 the Apostle Paul gives recognition to those who have dedicated themselves to the ministry of the gospel.  Paul makes note of several people who are role models for the church at Corinth and of how they are useful in refreshing the spirits of the people.

This is an example of the leadership and togetherness that should be represented in the Church.

The meetings of the early Church may very well have been similar to our small groups or weekly Bible studies that we have today in our own households.  The people who lead such groups are to be recognized as pillars of the Church in leading others in the way of the Lord.  If you are one of these people, thank you for the gift that you give to the Church and for your calling and dedication to the sharing of the gospel – in Christ.

Dear LORD,

Our homes are a place in which You use to share the love that You have offered to us all in our salvation in Christ Jesus.  I ask today that You give a special blessing to all those who have opened their homes to further the message of the gospel.  In Jesus name I pray, amen.
