1 Corinthians 15:35-38

In 1 Corinthians 15:35 (NKJV) the question is raised of, “How are the dead raised up?  And with what body do they come?”  And the Apostle Paul gives such an awesome and easy to understand answer in 1 Corinthians 15:36, “36Foolish one, what you sow is not made alive unless it dies.  37And what you sow, you do not sow that body that shall be, but mere grain – perhaps wheat or some other grain.  38But God gives it a body as He pleases, and to each seed its own body.”

This is an example of the new resurrected body – in Christ.

Jesus declares in John 6:40, “And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him may have everlasting life; and I will raise him up at the last day.”  The new body that we will receive – in Christ – at His return will not be like our physical body as a grain of wheat is to the stock that grows from it after the piece of grain is planted in the ground, as is our physical bodies buried when we die.  But the life that grows from the grain of wheat grows into a much different looking body as a matured stock with a harvest of grain through its own growth.  We too shall receive a mature spiritual body that is mature in the harvest of our lives – in Christ.

Dear LORD,

This lesson that You have inspired the Apostle Paul to teach us through Your word is a great example of how much more our resurrected bodies in Christ Jesus will be.  Thank You for giving us understanding of Your word and the realization of Your work being done through Your Holy Spirit in our lives.  In Jesus name I pray, amen.
