1 Corinthians 15:23-28

In 1 Corinthians 15:23-28 the Apostle Paul explains the order/activity in which things will happen in fulfillment of the resurrection and its purpose in God’s great plan through His one and only Son Jesus.  In the resurrection fulfillment is first of all, the resurrection of Jesus the “firstfruit;” second is the resurrection of all those who have/or will die that have professed Jesus their Savior and believe in their hearts that Jesus was risen from the dead (Romans 10:9-10).  This will be the fulfillment of Psalm 8:6 when, ““He has put all things under His feet” meaning that God has defeated death by the resurrection of all who have put their faith in Him through Christ Jesus.   With the resurrection of those who died physically as believers will also come the resurrection of the unbelievers who will stand before Jesus and profess Him Lord and Savior in acknowledgement of their lack of faith in that moment realizing that Jesus truly is Lord and Savior to their demise.  Paul expands on this subject in Philippians 2:9-11(NKJV), “therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”  At this, death will be defeated in every sense of death; the faithful will rise to the glory of God through following in the direction of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the unfaithful will rise to the acknowledgement of Jesus being Lord and Savior before being cast into the lake of fire (Revelation 20:11-15).  In this, the evils of the world will end and God will be declared without rebuttal, “all in all” (1 Corinthians 15:28).

This is a promise of the fulfillment of the resurrection for all in declaring Jesus Lord and Savior to the glory of God Almighty.

The return of Jesus and the resurrection of the dead has many unanswered questions of just how and when this will take place.  But we do know enough to believe that it will take place through the word of God, and being believers, we are to believe in the Holy Spirit inspired word of God.  We do not have to have all the answers, but that we know, understand, and realize that God sent His one and only Son, Jesus, to be our Savior.  We simply have to believe it in our hearts and profess it with our mouths (Romans 10:9-10).  Satan will produce doubt in every way he can to prevent us from believing in Jesus because he is at odds with God.  Before he is cast into the lake of fire he will try to take everyone with him that he can.  I, on the other hand, am at odds with Satan through Christ Jesus and the power of His Holy Spirit working in me, and I will strive to take everyone with me to heaven that I can – in Christ!

Dear LORD,

It is our duty, not just my duty, but the duty of all Christians to share the message of the gospel with the world so that all may hear of our Savior Jesus – the Savior of the world for all who will believe in Him and profess Him Lord and Savior.  Please encourage us all through prayer, Your word, and the working of Your Holy Spirit in our lives to share Jesus with the world.  In Jesus name I pray, amen.
