1 Corinthians 13:4-7 (7d)

In 1 Corinthians 13:7d we learn that [love] “endures all things.”  Endurance is the toughness that drives us through adversity to completion – that we would keep our focus on the goal through the tough times; drive and determination.  To not give up in the midst of the battle – to endure through the challenges that life throws at us in this sinful world.  The Apostle Paul declares in Philippians 3:12-14 (NKJV), “Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me.  Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.”

This is a promise that love endures all things.

As we endure through the trials, pains, and challenges that this world throws at us, let us remember that it is through Christ Jesus that we endure.  It is He that gives us the strength to overcome the ways of this world and live in a new life of forgiveness and freedom from the bondage of sin.  As Paul said, we must not look back at things that have happened to us in the past, but keep pressing forward to obtain the goal of eternal resurrection in Christ Jesus, for He is the way, the truth, and the life.  No one comes to the Father except through Him (John 14:6).  Endure in Christ Jesus and He will give you rest (Matthew 11:28-29).

Dear LORD,

We grow weary trying to endure the challenges of this world by ourselves.  Please speak to our hearts, minds, and souls to make us aware that our Savior Jesus died and rose from the dead for us – to help us endure this world; that through His sacrifice we could obtain a righteousness that lasts forever if we will put our faith and trust in Him.  Please let it be so LORD.  In Jesus name I pray, amen.
