1 Corinthians 13:13

Faith, hope, and love.  These three “abide” (NKJV); “remain” (NIV).  The Bible teaches us in 1 Corinthians 13:12, “For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then face to face.  Now I know in part, but then I shall know just as I also am known.”  “For now” (1 Corinthians 13:12, NKJV) refers to this physical, earthly world as does “And now” (1 Corinthians 13:13).  For now we see in part, in this world; and now faith, hope, and love abide/remain.  Faith is to believe in what is to come when we leave this physical world and enter into eternal life in the spiritual world.  Hope is our driving force to believe in what is to come through our faith – which is eternal life through God’s grace in giving us the gift of life free from sin by believing in Christ Jesus – that He died for our sins to pay our penalty for sin that we may be set free from that penalty and live forever in heaven – in spirit and freedom from sin in God’s glory.  One day faith and hope will be fulfilled through the love that remains forever as in heaven there will no longer be the need for faith and hope because they will be fulfilled through the everlasting love of God.

This is a promise that our faith and hope will one day be fulfilled by God’s everlasting love – in heaven – in Christ.

Jesus declared to His disciples in John 16:33, “These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace.  In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”  For now we see in part, and in part in this earthly world will be pains and sorrows, trials and tribulations, but we hope for a day and have faith that the day will come when we will enter into heaven – where there will be only love in its purest form – in God Himself we will abide forever.  But for now, until that day comes, we abide/remain in faith, hope, and love, but the greatest of these is love (1 Corinthians 13:13).

Dear LORD,

Thank You for giving us hope for a day when our troubles will all fade away.  Thank You for giving us faith to believe in Your grace to us through the gift that You offer us in Christ Jesus for all who will believe that He died for our sins and rose from the grave to claim victory over sin, death, and Satan once for all – that we may live eternal through our faith in Him and have living hope for that glorious day when we hear the words from You as we enter Your eternal kingdom of heaven, “Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things.  Enter into the joy of your lord” (Matthew 25:21).  Please let it be so LORD in all of our lives.  In Jesus name I pray, amen.
